The year’s highlights
in Alta Badia
In the Alta Badia region, we have a full calendar of events all year, from skiing and cycling competitions to culinary events. Here is an overview of the main highlights.
The Maratona dles Dolomites
Alta Badia is the starting and finishing point for an exciting bike race that leads over the Dolomites’ most beautiful passes, which are kept car-free for the occasion. There are three routes from 55 km to 138 km long and very punchy climbs to negotiate. The Maratona dles Dolomites takes place every year in July, attracting cyclists from near and far.
The Dolomites Bike Day
You don’t need to be a pro to participate in the Dolomites Bike Day: this sporting event in mid-June every year is open to all. The tour is 51 kilometres long and leads over the Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola mountain passes. A great opportunity to exercise surrounded by the fascinating landscapes of the Dolomites.
The Sellaronda Bike Day
On one day in June the roads of the Dolomites are reserved exclusively for cyclists – it’s the Sellaronda Bike Day! This bike-themed get-together takes place around the Sella massif and is open to all. Young or old, pro or amateur, everyone can pedal as far and for as long as they feel like.
BMW Hero Südtirol Dolomites
The BMW Hero South Tyrol Dolomites, which takes place in June, is considered one of the toughest mountain bike races in the world. Both the classic and marathon courses lead around the Sella massif and involve considerable elevation gain. The main event is rounded off by an exciting fringe programme with something for the whole family.
The Sellaronda Ski Marathon
In March, the Sellaronda Ski Marathon gives ski tourers the chance to test their limits on a 42-kilometre-long tour across the snowy passes of the Dolomites. The race starts at sunset and winners are announced at midnight.
The Ski World Cup race on the Gran Risa
At the end of December, come and see the world’s best skiers compete for the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on the Gran Risa piste in Alta Badia. The men’s giant slalom and the parallel giant slalom under floodlights are among the must-see events for ski enthusiasts.
